Maj General Sharon Bannister served as the Director of Medical Operations for the Department of the Air Force. She was responsible for developing and executing operational healthcare policy in support of 43,000 medical personnel at 76 Air Force and Space Force installations with a budget of more than $6.2 billion ensuring a cost-effective, preventative-based, quality health care continuum for 3.6 million beneficiaries worldwide.

General Bannister received a direct commission as an Air Force Dentist in July 1992. Throughout her 31-year career she served in multiple roles including patient care, post-doctoral education, military command positions both stateside and deployed, and C-suite executive leadership/ headquarters positions both within the Department of the Air Force and the Defense Health Agency. General Bannister also served as the 20th Air Force Dental Corps Chief responsible for providing policy and operational guidance to the Department of the Air Force on all matters involving the practice of dentistry.

As a national leader in organized dentistry, Dr. Bannister has years of experience on the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) and AAP Foundation Boards. She also volunteers with the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial (VVM) both as a Board member for the VVM Foundation and a “yellow hat” Wall volunteer. As a nationally renowned speaker, Sharon will tell you she is a servant leader, Airman, dedicated healthcare executive, change agent, innovator, board-certified periodontist, wife, mom, and a Gold Star daughter.

Captain Kim Davis currently serves as the Director (CEO) of Naval Medical Center San Diego, the largest and most comprehensive military healthcare system in the Western United States consisting of a tertiary medical center with 100 specialties and 17 clinics supported by over 6000 medical professionals focused on warfighter readiness, medical force generation, and high quality healthcare.

She hails from a family of Navy physicians and has moved 21 times in her lifetime. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from The University of Texas at Austin. Captain Davis earned a Medical Doctorate from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and completed an Ophthalmology Residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego. She achieved American Board of Ophthalmology certification and completed fellowship training in Glaucoma Surgery at UCLA’s Jules Stein Eye Institute.

She has served in various positions throughout a 30 year career in Navy Medicine to include Residency Program Director, Directors of Public Health Services and Surgical Services. She assumed the position as Executive Officer, Naval Health Clinic Hawaii and command of Naval Health Clinic Annapolis. Captain Davis served a dual role as U.S. Navy South/Commander Fourth Fleet Surgeon in Mayport, Florida, supporting global health and humanitarian missions.

She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American College of Surgeons, and American Glaucoma Society. Captain Davis served on the Women in Ophthalmology Board of Directors and received recognition as the 2014 Military Health System Navy Junior Female Physician Leader of the Year. Captain Davis is a Fellow of American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and was named the Brenau University 2014 Outstanding Graduate Student in Healthcare Management. She received the 2017 ACHE Navy Regent Senior-level Healthcare Executive Award.

Captain Davis married her high school sweetheart 3 decades ago and they have raised 4 wonderful children.

CAPT Stoker was raised in San Antonio, Texas, and attended undergraduate studies at Texas Lutheran University where she graduated with honors in 1997 with degrees in biology (B.S.) and chemistry (B.A.). She accepted a commission as a United States Navy Ensign as part of the Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) and obtained her medical degree from the University of Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas, in 2001. CAPT Stoker also holds a Master of Public Health degree from the University of West Florida.

CAPT Stoker completed an internship in obstetrics/gynecology at Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD) in 2002. She earned her Naval Flight Surgeon Wings in June 2003 and served as flight surgeon to Marine Attack Squadron (VMA) 211 aboard Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona before returning to NMCSD to complete residency training in obstetrics/gynecology. CAPT Stoker served as staff obstetrician/gynecologist at U.S. Naval Hospital Yokosuka, Japan, and at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton (NHCP), California.

CAPT Stoker returned to operational medicine in 2013, serving as Assistant Department Head for Aviation Medicine, Naval Branch Health Clinic, Naval Air Station North Island, California. While stationed at NBHC NASNI, she was assigned as an individual augmentee (IA) to Marine Aircraft Group (MAG) 50, serving as Officer in Charge (OIC) of the Aid Station aboard Sheik Isa Air Base, Kingdom of Bahrain as part of contingency operations in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Upon returning from deployment in 2014, CAPT Stoker was requested to take on the role of Group Surgeon, Marine Aircraft Group 39, Camp Pendleton, California, before transferring to Naval Aerospace Medical Institute (NAMI) in 2016 to begin a second medical residency in Aerospace Medicine.

After completing Aerospace Medicine training in 2018, CAPT Stoker reported to Naval Safety Center Detachment, Naval School of Aviation Safety, serving as Command Flight Surgeon and Aeromedical Instructor before being selected as Officer in Charge of Navy Medicine Operational Training Center Detachment, Naval Aerospace Medical Institute (NAMI). CAPT Stoker has continued to support women’s health through the Comprehensive Women’s Health Clinic, Naval Hospital Pensacola since 2016. Additionally, she provides instruction to prospective Naval Aeromedical Officers on operational gynecology and utilizes her dual training background to review and recommend operationally appropriate dispositions for gynecological aeromedical waiver submissions through NAMI Code 342.

CAPT Stoker’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (third award), and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. She is qualified as a Naval Flight Surgeon, Fleet Marine Force Officer, and holds Marine Corps Martial Arts Grey Belt.
